Is porn a problem?

There is a valid reason why you can’t seem to be consistent with improving your life. It’s probably a reason that you don’t use when you explain all of your excuses. Maybe there’s even more than one of these reasons.

These are you vices. We all have them. What are yours?

Some may not even know or consider some of these as a vice or a problem. Yeah there are the obvious ones

  • Smoking

  • Drinking

  • Drug abuse

  • Gambling

But what about, porn, junk food, binge watching, scrolling.

You may not look at these as vices, or even think of them when making excuses for not bettering your life. A lot of people won’t. Why? Because everybody does it. Or no one is supposed to know. Or you technically don’t do it that much. Whatever excuse you can come up with to excuse your excuses.

Well Bing watching anything is a trap and a complete waste of time. Because it leads to more binge watching. It’s a Rabit hole of time wasting.

Binge watching can disturb your growth here’s how:

  1. Disrupted Sleep Patterns: Binge-watching often leads to late-night viewing sessions, disrupting the body's natural sleep cycle. This can result in insomnia or poor sleep quality, which affects mood, cognitive function, and overall health.

  2. Increased Sedentary Behavior: Sitting or lying down for extended periods while binge-watching can contribute to a sedentary lifestyle, increasing the risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

  3. Mental Health Decline: Excessive screen time has been linked to increased feelings of loneliness, depression, and anxiety, partly due to isolation from real-world social interactions and the overwhelming nature of continuous content consumption.

  4. Poor Eating Habits: Binge-watching is often accompanied by mindless eating or snacking, which can lead to unhealthy food choices and overeating.

  5. Cognitive Overload: Consuming large amounts of content in a short period can lead to cognitive overload, making it harder to process, retain, and recall information. This continuous exposure to rapidly changing stimuli can reduce attention spans and impair memory.
Solution: Set a strict viewing limit of 1-2 episodes per night and turn off screens at least an hour before bedtime to help maintain a healthy sleep schedule. Make a habit of standing, stretching, or walking around for a few minutes after every episode or every hour to decrease sedentary time. Balance screen time with activities that promote mental well-being, such as spending time outdoors, or engaging in hobbies. Prepare healthy snacks before starting to watch (if you must), and avoid eating directly from large packages or containers to control portion sizes. Limit viewing sessions to enhance content retention and comprehension, and engage in activities that promote cognitive health, such as reading, puzzles, and learning new skills.

Porn is kills not only the sex drive but you drive for anything:

  1. Distorted Perceptions of Sexuality: Frequent consumption of pornography can lead to unrealistic expectations and perceptions of sex, relationships, and body image, potentially leading to dissatisfaction and anxiety in personal relationships.

  2. Addictive Behavior: Pornography can be addictive for some individuals, leading to compulsive use that interferes with daily life, responsibilities, and interpersonal relationships.

  3. Mental Health Issues: Excessive use of pornography has been associated with increased risk of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem, partly due to isolation or feelings of shame and guilt.

  4. Impaired Sexual Function: Some individuals may experience sexual dysfunction, such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, or delayed ejaculation, as a result of habitual pornography use, which can affect real-life sexual experiences and satisfaction.

  5. Physical Health Neglect: Prolonged periods of pornography consumption contribute to a sedentary lifestyle, which is linked to obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues.
Solution: Establishing a balanced routine that includes physical activity, healthy eating, and regular sleep patterns can mitigate the effects of a sedentary lifestyle and improve overall physical health. Engaging in activities that promote mental well-being, such as exercise, socializing, and hobbies, can help improve mood and self-esteem. Professional counseling may also be beneficial. Reducing or eliminating pornography use can help restore normal sexual function. Education on healthy sexuality and relationships can help develop a more realistic understanding of intimacy, fostering healthier expectations and body image.

Now, which one of these is your biggest enemy? You may enjoy them while you’re indulging. But is is slowly deteriorating every piece of energy that is needed for you to become tyour best version. That person that you want to see in the mirror. That person that you look up to because you knew what it took to become it. Take charge of your enemy, manage your time and conquer your life. Be the boss of your own existence. Stop allowing these vices to control who you are and who you can become.

Use the ability to sit and watch tv to motivate you to activate into your life what you’re watching. for example I let football spark my initiative to implement agility training into my workouts. It propelled my health and physical abilities. Another example is MMA, maybe watching a few fights could ignite your desire to punch a bag. Once you start it’s hard to stop. Create the vice of healthy lifestyle living and indulge away.
